He jump from a building in Amsterdam, the capital of The Netherlands. He was a drug addict and tried to kick of. He was sick for a little while before he jumped.
He died on a age of 54.
When Brood was alive, he was well known as Rock 'n Roll junkie, In 1994 there was made a documentory 'Rock 'n Roll junkie' named after one of his songs. He was born in Zwolle and he went to the art academy in Arnhem till it''s mid-sixty's and landed with the band cuby & the blizzards. When it was around the late 70's ,he established his name with a few hit's like Saturday Night and Still Believe, with his band: Herman brood & his wild romance.
He got famous and played in the movie 'Cha cha' with the German (female) singer Nina Hagen.
In the last part of his life he was a famous painter.
In general, it was seen as a miracle that he did not succumbed to drugs and alcohol.
When they found the body, there was a note. That note stated that he did not feel like living anymore, There also stade (I cite):
"Make it a great party. And maybe I'll see you again."
He was Cremated a few days after he died, and his urn was burried at Zorgvlied next to the Amstel.
